New Library Computer System

Library Computer System Changing

Hello Pulaski County, I hope you’re having a great week!  Your Library District would like to let you know of a change that we are pretty excited about.  On June 20, our Library computer system will be changing.  Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?  On your side, you probably won’t notice too many changes, but there are a few things that we want to make you aware of.

Thing one is that your librarians need to learn how to use this system.  So, in preparation, all branches of the Pulaski County Library District will be closed on Thursday, May 26th for staff training.  We will spend that whole day learning the ins and outs of our new computer system.  Doesn’t that sound like a blast?  While we will have this whole day of training under our belts, we do ask for your patience when the transition actually happens.

Secondly, any patrons whose cards have been expired for two years or longer will not be migrated to our new system.  If it’s been awhile since you have visited your library, you may want to stop by and see if your card is current.  If you can’t make it in before the migration, you will need to fill out a new library card application.  It isn’t a big deal, but not quite as quick as renewing your existing card.

Finally, and this is what we are very excited about, our Inter-Library Loan process should be simplified greatly with the new system.  The process now requires the patron to fill out paperwork with the librarian and then wait while we try to find a copy of the book being requested.  While we always encourage patrons to ask their librarian for assistance at any point, they will also be able to place those requests directly from their online accounts.

PCLD Book of the Week

From best-selling authors Wanda Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter, we have Part 1 of the six-part serial novel “The Amish Millionaire”.  The first installation, “The English Son”, is currently available at the Waynesville Library.  Brunstetter’s books are always a hit, so be sure to get your name on the holds list for this one!
